HUMAN DISCERNMENT

🧭 SECTION SIX: SELF-LOYALTY

(aka… choosing yourself without writing a whole essay about it)

Let’s talk about something subtle… but life-changing:

👉 You don’t need to explain every decision you make.

I know.
Shocking. Slightly uncomfortable. Borderline illegal-feeling 😅

But somewhere along the way, you learned:

👉 “If I choose myself… I need a really good reason.”

So now every time you:

  • say no
  • change your mind
  • protect your time
  • choose what actually feels right

You feel this urge to add:

👉 “…and here’s a full explanation so nobody thinks I’m a bad person.” 🤣📄

🧠 Self-Loyalty vs. People-Pleasing

(the quiet upgrade nobody announces)

People-pleasing sounds like:

  • “I don’t want to upset anyone…”
  • “Let me just do it, it’s fine…”
  • “I’ll deal with it later…”

(you won’t, by the way 😅)

Self-loyalty sounds like:

  • “That doesn’t work for me.”
  • “I’m going to pass.”
  • “I need time.”

And then…

👉 silence.

No paragraph.
No over-justifying.
No emotional TED Talk. 🎤😅

👉 Just… a decision.

🎭 Quiet Self-Respect vs. Performative Self-Love

Performative self-love is loud.

It’s:

👉 “I choose me!!” ✨📸
Posted. Announced. Explained.

Meanwhile… still saying yes to things you don’t want 😅

Quiet self-respect?

👉 Nobody sees it.

It looks like:

  • leaving earlier without a speech
  • not replying immediately
  • not engaging in something that drains you
  • choosing peace… without announcing it

No audience.
No validation.

👉 Just you… respecting yourself.

🧱 Boundaries Without the Speech

(yes, it’s allowed 😏)

You don’t need to:

  • over-explain your no
  • convince people to agree with you
  • make it sound nice enough to be accepted

Because let’s be honest…

👉 the more you explain, the more people feel invited to negotiate.

You:

👉 “I can’t, I’m tired, and I’ve had a long week, and—”

Them:

👉 “Okay but just this one time—”

See what happened? 😅
👉 You opened the door.

Try this instead:

👉 “That doesn’t work for me.”

👉 End scene. 🎬

🧠 The Real Way You Abandon Yourself

(it’s quieter than you think)

It’s not always big moments.

It’s small ones like:

  • saying yes when your body said no
  • staying quiet when something bothered you
  • ignoring your need for rest
  • choosing comfort for others over honesty for yourself

👉 Little things. Repeated daily.

That slowly teach your brain:

👉 “My needs are optional.”

And now you’re wondering why you feel drained.

👉 Because you’ve been leaving yourself…

  • in small ways
  • all day
  • every day

😌 Choosing Yourself

(without making it a personality trait)

Self-loyalty isn’t dramatic.

It’s not:

👉 “I’m cutting everyone off and moving to a new life.” 😅

Relax.

It’s simple:

  • choosing rest when you need it
  • saying no without guilt
  • honoring what you feel without overthinking it
  • not betraying yourself just to keep things smooth

👉 It’s quiet.
Consistent.

…and a little uncomfortable at first—
because you’re not used to it.

🛠 Practice

(this one will humble you real quick 😏)

At the end of your day, ask yourself:

👉 “Where did I abandon myself today?”

No guilt.
No judgment.

👉 Just awareness.

Because once you see it…

👉 you can’t unsee it.

And once you can’t unsee it?

👉 you start choosing differently.

Little by little.
Moment by moment.

🌿 Closing Mantra

“I don’t need to explain my choices.

I can choose myself…
without guilt,
without permission,
without a speech.

What feels right for me… is enough.” 💛

💛 The Truth

(simple… but it lands)

👉 You don’t need to prove you respect yourself.

👉 You just need to stop abandoning yourself.

Quietly.
Consistently.

👉 Even when no one notices.

Because at the end of the day?

👉 the relationship you have with yourself
is the one you live with 24/7.

So maybe…

👉 stop ghosting yourself. 😏🔥
