(aka⦠the real you doesnāt need a marketing department š)
Letās be honest.
Being yourselfā¦
sounds incredibly inspiringā¦
until itās your turn.
š
Because suddenlyā¦
itās not a motivational quote anymore.
Itās a risk.
A real one.
āWhat if they donāt like me?ā
āWhat if they think Iāve changed?ā
āWhat if I disappoint them?ā
āWhat if they leave?ā
And my personal favoriteā¦
āWhat if I post it⦠and three people like it?ā
š¤£
Ah yesā¦
nothing humbles the human ego quite like social media.
š Performance Is Exhausting
For yearsā¦
many of us become performers.
Not actors.
Performers.
We perform being okay.
We perform confidence.
We perform productivity.
We perform being āeasy.ā
We perform being who we think everyone expects.
And after a whileā¦
something strange happens.
People start lovingā¦
the performance.
Meanwhileā¦
the real you is backstageā¦
eating cold friesā¦
wondering if theyāll ever get invited on stage.
š
šŖ The Mask Worked
Letās give credit where itās due.
The mask wasnāt stupid.
The mask protected you.
It helped you survive.
It helped you belong.
It helped you avoid conflict.
It helped you fit into roomsā¦
that were never designed for the real you.
So before you throw the mask awayā¦
Thank it.
ā¤ļø
It got you here.
It just isnāt where youāre going.
š The Human Approval Department
Have you noticedā¦
that humans are adorable?
We desperately want permissionā¦
from peopleā¦
who arenāt even living our lives.
š¤£
Itās like asking your neighborā¦
what flavor of ice cream you should enjoy.
Can they have an opinion?
Sure.
Do they have to eat it?
Nope.
Yet somehowā¦
weāre over here trying to convince everyoneā¦
that mint chocolate chip is a deeply personal spiritual journey.
š
š± Authenticity Isnāt Loud
This surprised me.
I used to think authenticity meantā¦
being bold.
Saying whatever came to mind.
Never filtering myself.
Nope.
Authenticity isnāt volume.
Itās alignment.
Sometimes authenticity says,
āI love this.ā
Sometimes it says,
āNo, thank you.ā
Sometimesā¦
it says absolutely nothingā¦
because peace doesnāt always need an announcement.
š¤ You Donāt Need Universal Approval
Hereās a strange question.
Can you think of one personā¦
that everyone loves?
Iāll wait.
š
Exactly.
Someone dislikes chocolate.
Someone dislikes puppies.
Someone probably thinks tacos are overrated.
(We donāt argue with those people.
We simply wish them healing.)
š¤£
The point isā¦
if the greatest artistsā¦
leadersā¦
teachersā¦
and kindest humans in historyā¦
couldnāt be loved by everyoneā¦
why did we decide that would be our job?
š Your Voice Will Find Its People
Hereās what Iāve noticed.
When you stop trying to sound like everyone elseā¦
the right people hear you.
Not everyone.
The right people.
The ones who laugh at your weird jokes.
The ones who breathe easier after talking to you.
The ones who read your words and quietly whisper,
āI thought I was the only one.ā
Those peopleā¦
were never looking for perfection.
They were looking for honesty.
š The Weirdness Test
Can I tell you a secret?
The people I trust the mostā¦
are usually a little weird.
š
Not ācollecting shopping cartsā weird.
Human weird.
The kind that laughs at the wrong moment.
Talks to animals.
Names their plants.
Gets emotional over sunsets.
Has fifteen tabs openā¦
and insists theyāll definitely read them later.
š¤£
You knowā¦
humans.
The more someone allows themselves to be genuinely themselvesā¦
the safer I feel being myself too.
Thatās a gift.
ā¤ļø Being Seen Isnāt About Attention
Itās about congruence.
Itās about your insideā¦
finally matching your outside.
No more translating yourself.
No more editing your personality.
No more shrinking your dreams.
No more pretendingā¦
you donāt careā¦
when you care deeply.
The right people wonāt be attractedā¦
to the version you invented.
Theyāll recognizeā¦
the version you stopped hiding.
šæ Closing Reflection
Ask yourselfā¦
Where am I still performingā¦
ā¦instead of simply existing?
Where am I editing myselfā¦
before anyone else has even asked me to?
And what would happenā¦
if todayā¦
I let one more piece of the real meā¦
walk into the room?
Because hereās the beautiful irony.
The version of youā¦
that youāre afraid people wonāt loveā¦
is often the very versionā¦
theyāve been waiting to meet.
Not everyone.
And thatās okay.
Youāre not trying to be everyoneās person anymore.
Youāre finally becoming your own.
And thatās the bravest introduction youāll ever make.
