HUMAN DISCERNMENT

by Yessica Jennings

🫀 Section Five: Listen to Yourself—But Learn Your Language

People love saying:

Trust your gut.

Okay.

But let’s add discernment.

Your body communicates information.

Sometimes tension means:

Danger.

Sometimes it means:

This reminds me of something painful.

Sometimes it means:

Holy shit. I really want this and I’m terrified.

Those are not the same thing.

Likewise, something feeling comfortable doesn’t automatically make it right.

Avoidance can feel wonderfully safe.

So don’t blindly obey fear.

Investigate it.

Ask yourself:

Am I afraid because this violates my values or safety?

Am I reacting to something old?

Or am I afraid because I’m standing at the edge of growth?

You don’t need to become fearless.

You need to become fluent in yourself.

🎥 You’ve Seen This Before: Luke Skywalker — Star Wars

Luke’s journey isn’t about eliminating fear.

Fear is everywhere.

The question becomes what he does with it.

He learns.

He gets things wrong.

He doubts himself.

He discovers that power without discernment can destroy the person using it.

And eventually he has to decide what kind of person he wants to be.

That’s what makes his journey timeless.

Courage isn’t:

I feel no fear.

It’s:

Fear gets a voice. It doesn’t automatically get the vote.
